How I Style my Hair

I just got a post request on how I fix my hair, so here it goes!

First I wash my hair with John Frieda Smooth Start Hydrating Shampoo and conditioner. I started using it about a month ago and I love it!

The hair products I use are
  1. Aveda Smooth Infusion Style Prep Smoother
  2. Frizz Ease Daily Nourishment Leave-In Conditioning Spray
  3. Fekkai Silky Straight Ironless Smooth Finish Serum or Frizz Ease 100% Shine Glossing Mist
I usually blow dry my hair before I go to bed, and then depending on how my hair turns out, I will straighten my hair and then curl the ends or just curl the ends. I use 1.5" curling iron, and I curl the ends horizontally, alternating between curling under and over. My hair is super thick and holds a curl well, so I can sleep on the curls and in the morning they're still in tact and a bit more natural!

This is the best example of how my hair looks on a daily basis!

Do y'all have any other questions? Let me know! I love getting post requests from people, so leave a comment or email me at thepinkandgreenprep@gmail.com !!

Have a great day! There's a ton of snow here in CT but it looks like it's melting already! My best friends don't have power, but thankfully we do. I'm spending the day watching The Blind Side and doing homework! What about y'all?

Homecoming Dance

Here are some pictures from the Bonfire last night!!

Tonight is the last first dance of high school! It's the homecoming dance! I'm SO excited! The theme is "A Night in Vegas"...so people are going to get pretty into it. I love the theme and I think it's so much fun!

I'm wearing this dress from Forever 21. I absolutely love it and I can't wait to wear it!!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Homecoming Day 2 - Senior Day

My 2nd spirit week theme is "in 20 years"!

I'm going to be a housewife! I'm always called a "mom" by everyone anyway, so I might as well take the opportunity to wear a cute dress during the school week! I'm wearing a dress by J. McLaughlin and I absolutely love it!

"In 20 years" has always been my favorite senior theme because half the seniors are serious, and half dress up humorously. My best friends are going to be dictators, a pizza delivery person, and a baker. My other friends are nuns, gigolos, and housewives (like me)!

Have a great day, y'all!!

Homecoming Day 1 - On the High Seas

It's that time of year again!! Homecoming!! This is my last night school homecoming and I am so excited. Even though this week is considered "spirit week", my high school only dresses up for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and for the dance on Saturday. In the past, we've had the themes "togas", "medieval", "famous couples", "90's icons", "zombies", "superheroes", "jungle", "cowboys/cowgirls", and "60's day." I love the themes for this year, though!! The first theme, for Wednesday, is called "on the high seas." Basically, it's the choice between sailors, pirates, or mermaids. But, as I was browsing the internet for cute clothes for costumes, I found a great idea from American Apparel: a lifeguard!

It's super easy. Basically, it's just a white t-shirt and red norts. Yay! I need to find a red bikini top (probably borrowed from one of my friends), and a whistle. It's the most relaxed spirit week outfit I've ever come up with!

I'll post pictures at the end of the week of all of the actual outfits!!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Wake Forest!

I had the best time at Wake Forest last weekend!!

The interview went great and the tour was one of the best that I've been to! I'm so happy that I liked Wake because it's been super hard for me to find colleges I like!

The football game was so much fun too. It was my first time going to a tailgate, and I hadn't been to a football game in forever. Even though Wake lost, it was so much fun to watch! I love watching sports!!!

I hope y'all have a great week!!!

What to pack for college visits

Hello! Every high school senior knows that senior fall is a crazy time packed with college visits!! I have visited 5 colleges and I'm on to Wake Forest tomorrow, so I've gotten the packing down!

The main thing is that you pack light. Things are already stressful enough, and worrying about luggage makes things much harder. I use my huge Lilly Pulitzer tote bag as a carry on so that I don't have to deal with the obnoxious luggage lines and security. It's worked perfectly so far and I can fit everything in it.

Make sure to have every outfit planned for the amount of time that you're visiting colleges. I plan what I'm wearing on the airplane rides and what I'm wearing on the tour(s). My favorite thing when packing is choosing my outfits. You want to look nice but not overdressed when going on a college tour. Do not just wear jeans and a t-shirt (or jeans at all!). My outfits have ranged from Lilly shift dresses to printed pants and a polo, and I felt perfectly at place with all of them.

Sorry for the awful lighting! My blackberry is awful and there is hardly any light in my room because it's still a work-in-progress!
I use clothing storage bags to keep everything organized. They're life savers!

The hardest thing about packing carry-ons is keeping the liquid amount until 3 oz. I keep little bottles of shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, and facewash for traveling and they're great!!

I usually have homework due when I get back from visits, so I always bring another carry on (usually a Vineyard Vines tote bag) to hold my laptop, schoolwork, as well as my iPod, camera, and a notepad. A notepad is great for taking notes during the information session (mine are crazy detailed and obsessive!) and any other notes about the college town, tour, etc.

I hope this helps for all of the crazy stressful high school senior girls out there! Are there any other tips I should have included? Let me know!!

So tomorrow I'm leaving bright and early to go to North Carolina to see Wake Forest. I'm really excited and I hope that I like it because I have not had an enjoyable time on college visits (I can't seem to find a school I like!). I have an interview then an information session/tour, and then my family and I are going out to dinner with one of my dad's friends who lives in Winston-Salem. After that, we're going to the Wake v. UVA soccer game! The next day I'm going to find a study spot on campus because I have a ton of work to do in preparation for next week (5 tests, ACT's, college stuff, and it's spirit week). At night, there's the Wake v. VA Tech football game which I'm super excited for!! We head home on Sunday (really early) because I have an Open House at my school that I have to run! Such a big weekend!!

Have a great weekend!!

Oh well!

Hey y'all!! I know that it's Wednesday and last weekend is now so far away, but I hope everyone had a great weekend! As y'all know, I went to Dallas and Alabama to visit SMU and Auburn on Monday and Tuesday. While I'm actually not going to apply to either (the downside of college visits - not liking the colleges!!), it was nice to get to go to the South!!

I can't believe tomorrow is Friday!! This week has flown by. It's a 3 day weekend because of Columbus Day, but I will definitely not be relaxing! I have mucho studying to do for the ACT (which is October 22nd and my last time before ED/EA applications are due!) as well as working college apps and regular homework. I still need to decide where I'm applying!!

It's my best friend's birthday this weekend so she's having her annual "birthday party" and sleepover on Sunday. I'm so excited! But, I'm also sad at the same time because this is the last time she gets to have this party with us since we're graduating in the spring! I've been going to the party every year since I was 13!! Here's what I'm wearing:

I am absolutely obsessed with the Lilly Pulitzer Cassie Dress. I have worn this more than anything in my closet this fall. It's perfect!! I love it!!

What are y'all doing this weekend? Let me know!!

Hope y'all had a great day!!

SMU and Auburn!!

Tomorrow morning, I am waking up bright and early so I can catch a flight with my mom to Dallas so I can go visit Southern Methodist University! Then, on Monday afternoon, I'm going to Alabama to visit Auburn!! I am so excited!!

I'm having dinner with a friend who is a freshman at SMU tomorrow night on campus. I'm excited to see her and hear what she has to say about the school!!

My actual tour for SMU is on Monday, then I have to go back to the airport to go to Auburn.

I have another friend who goes to Auburn so I may stop by and say hi to her!

I have only gone on 3 college visits before this (Vandy, Sewanee, and College of Charleston), so it'll be nice to see other schools. SMU and Auburn are also both on my top lists, so hopefully I actually like them!!

Do y'all know anything interesting about Auburn and SMU? Let me know!!

Have a great day!!
