A Black and Gold Affair: Part 2

Hello! The second part of my Wake Forest themed post series, "A Black and Gold Affair," focuses on black and gold clothes and accessories!

(1) Since I am such a typical girl, I looove sequins! Pretty much all of the items on this set has sequins on them! I think that this black top from Topshop is great to wear with jeans and black flats.

(2) ASOS has become my new online shopping obsession. They have actually everything you could ever want! This dress is perfect because it's black and gold!

(3) The gold sequin tank top shown is also from ASOS. Love it!
(4) I am absolutely lusting over this gold long sleeved sequin mini dress from ASOS. While it is a little different from my usual style of Lilly dresses and pink and green accessories, I am crazy about this dress! It's so much fun and great for parties, especially in the holiday season!

(5) I wore this Ralph Lauren dress to a dance when I was a freshman in high school! It's black, but you can faintly see gold sequins underneath the top layer of fabric. Such a fun twist on a little black shift dress.

(6) Here is a black sequin wrap dress from ASOS. Even though it's sequined, it's a little bit more subdued than the gold sequin dress!

(7) Usually I don't go to Victoria's Secret to shop for clothes, but I love their black criss-cross dress!

(1) Now onto accessories! I love my black bauble necklace from J. Crew. It's cute with a simple t-shirt or with a sweater when it gets colder!

(2) Swell Caroline carries a black and gold watch that fits in perfectly with the WF school colors!

(3) Smathers and Branson, the wonderful needlepoint brand that is near and dear to my heart, has a striped black and gold needlepoint headband. So perfect!!

(4) I wear my monogrammed gold necklace almost every day and I love it!

(5) Want to have a black and gold bracelet stack? Check out bracelets from Kate Spade, Swell Caroline, and Fornash!

(6) Lastly, there are millions of options for black and gold footwear! Jack Rogers released a line of their Navajo sandals in college colors, black and gold being one of their options. The Tory Burch Reva Flats are the classic approach to cute black and gold shoes. The third option from Zara is pricey, but so cute!

Have a lovely day!!

A Black and Gold Affair: Part 1

Hello! Just as a backup for those who have just started to follow this blog, I am a freshman at Wake Forest University in NC. I am super excited to go to college in a week (!!!), and I have been furiously searching the internet for anything and everything black and gold. I love the Wake Forest themed goodies, even if they are a little bit cheesy! Here are my favorite black and gold Wake themed things that I've come across!

(1) Smathers and Branson, my favorite needlepoint brand ever, offers a ton of collegiate merchandise on their website. I think that the needlepoint key fob is super cute!

(2) The college bookstore carries Wake croakies

(3) Here's another Smathers and Branson goodie: a needlepoint wallet!

(4) My Wake Forest Tervis Tumbler is actually one of my favorite Wake themed things ever. My grandmother sent me one when I was first accepted in March, and I carried it around with me every single day during Senior Spring! I brought it with me to Jackson Hole this summer, and even there I used it every single day at the pool and the gym! Tervis are the greatest cups ever, they're so sturdy and there are a trillion different styles to choose from!

(5) I definitely wear my Wake Nike Tempo Shorts more than any of my other norts!

(6) Wake Forest Vineyard Vines apparel is getting harder and harder to find, but in the past, they have carried Demon Deacon Ties. Perfect for my dad and brother!

(7) The last Smathers + Wake item that I looove is the needlepoint belt

(8) Lastly, I am dying to find this Vineyard Vines Wake Forest Tote Bag. I have searched everywhere for it but I can't find it anywhere! I'm hoping they rerelease their collegiate line so I can stock up on black and gold goodies.

Have a wonderful day!

Prepping for Gameday

One of the things that I'm most excited about for college is FOOTBALL SEASON! My high school didn't have a football team (much to my and my father's chagrin), so I didn't get the chance to have the full "high school experience" with Friday night football and high school spirit! My first gameday is September 1st, and I'm already planning what I'm wearing to some of the Wake gamedays.

I have separated my gameday outfits into 2 separate groups: the preppy sundresses for warmer weather, and Wake's school colors for the colder games.

(1) Lilly Pulitzer Worth Shift in Multi Sailor Patch with Monogrammed Navy Jack Rogers

(2) Lilly Pulitzer Ferra Dress in Call me Kitty Cat with White Jack Rogers

(3) Just Madras Jennifer Dress in Pink Seersucker with Gold Jack Rogers

(4) Lilly Pulitzer Lottie Dress in Multi You Gotta Regatta with Light Pink Jack Rogers

I have researched around and have found out that most girls at Wake, like many girls at other Southern schools, wear cute sundresses for football games! This makes me so happy! I am very excited to wear some adorable sundresses for the games at the beginning of the season. Of course, I'm going to be pairing my dresses with pearls and Jack Rogers!

(1) Lilly Pulitzer Cassie Dress Slub in Black with Lilly Pulitzer Gold McKim Sandals

(2) Lilly Pulitzer White Elsa Tissue Top with Dark Wash Skinny Jeans, Madewell Riding Boots, a Marley Lilly Black and Gold Monogrammed Scarf and a Smathers and Branson Black and Gold Headband

(3) H&M Black Dress with Gold Bangles, Ray Ban Aviators, and Cowboy Boots

When it gets colder, I will definitely be wearing clothes that show a little bit more school spirit! Wake's colors are black and gold, which makes it super easy to buy gameday clothes. It's so easy to find black dresses and gold accessories!

What do y'all think of my ideas for gameday outfits? Please let me know if I'm heading in the right/wrong direction! Also, do I need anything else for gameday??

Have a fabulous day!!

Trip to Wake Forest!

Hi y'all!! I hope everyone is having a great Saturday!! On Thursday night I hopped on a plane with my dad so we could go visit Wake Forest!!

Shirt: Ralph Lauren
Skirt: Lilly Pulitzer
Pullover (not shown): Ralph Lauren
Shoes: Jack Rogers

Shirt: Lilly Pulitzer
Jeans: J. Crew
Belt: J. Crew
Shoes: Jack Rogers
Scarf: Lilly Pulitzer

I didn't take many pictures (too busy!!) but I had an absolutely wonderful time! I learned SO MUCH about the school, and it was nice to walk around a ton so I could get the feel of the school. Also, I got to learn where everything is...I have such a bad sense of direction but the campus is so easy to navigate! I met a couple of people in my class which was nice, and I visited the freshman dorms so I could learn where I'll be spending next year. Funnily enough, I ran into a guy who graduated from my high school while on campus!

At the end of our "campus day," the WF marching band and the Demon Deacon mascot made a grand appearance!! It was a ton of fun and I can't wait to go back in the fall!! Go Deacs!!

Have a great day!!

Tervis Tumblers

I love Tervis Tumblers. They are great and so reliable, and they come in so many great styles!! Tervis has a ton of colleges to choose from if you want a collegiate-themed tumbler, and they also have state-themed cups as well!! Of course I am obsessed with the monogrammed cups. My family has had a collection of Tervis tumblers for most of my life, and they are so much fun to add personalization to drink wear!!

Here are three examples of the tumblers that we have. The monogram is my mothers, which I love. I got the Wake Forest one last week from my grandmother, and I have been carrying it around with me non-stop since I opened the package!! I highly suggest getting a travel top or a top and straw to put on the tumbler. Then, it becomes perfect to take to the gym, to class, and to just carry around at home!! Lastly, we have the adorable GOP elephant!!

What Tervis' do y'all have? Let me know!!

On another note, make sure to check out The Smart Girls Group FIRST ISSUE!! I am SO happy with how it turned out, and I am so proud of all of the girls who joined me in working on this amazing mini-mag!!

Have a great day!!

Wake Forest!

I had the best time at Wake Forest last weekend!!

The interview went great and the tour was one of the best that I've been to! I'm so happy that I liked Wake because it's been super hard for me to find colleges I like!

The football game was so much fun too. It was my first time going to a tailgate, and I hadn't been to a football game in forever. Even though Wake lost, it was so much fun to watch! I love watching sports!!!

I hope y'all have a great week!!!

What to pack for college visits

Hello! Every high school senior knows that senior fall is a crazy time packed with college visits!! I have visited 5 colleges and I'm on to Wake Forest tomorrow, so I've gotten the packing down!

The main thing is that you pack light. Things are already stressful enough, and worrying about luggage makes things much harder. I use my huge Lilly Pulitzer tote bag as a carry on so that I don't have to deal with the obnoxious luggage lines and security. It's worked perfectly so far and I can fit everything in it.

Make sure to have every outfit planned for the amount of time that you're visiting colleges. I plan what I'm wearing on the airplane rides and what I'm wearing on the tour(s). My favorite thing when packing is choosing my outfits. You want to look nice but not overdressed when going on a college tour. Do not just wear jeans and a t-shirt (or jeans at all!). My outfits have ranged from Lilly shift dresses to printed pants and a polo, and I felt perfectly at place with all of them.

Sorry for the awful lighting! My blackberry is awful and there is hardly any light in my room because it's still a work-in-progress!
I use clothing storage bags to keep everything organized. They're life savers!

The hardest thing about packing carry-ons is keeping the liquid amount until 3 oz. I keep little bottles of shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, and facewash for traveling and they're great!!

I usually have homework due when I get back from visits, so I always bring another carry on (usually a Vineyard Vines tote bag) to hold my laptop, schoolwork, as well as my iPod, camera, and a notepad. A notepad is great for taking notes during the information session (mine are crazy detailed and obsessive!) and any other notes about the college town, tour, etc.

I hope this helps for all of the crazy stressful high school senior girls out there! Are there any other tips I should have included? Let me know!!

So tomorrow I'm leaving bright and early to go to North Carolina to see Wake Forest. I'm really excited and I hope that I like it because I have not had an enjoyable time on college visits (I can't seem to find a school I like!). I have an interview then an information session/tour, and then my family and I are going out to dinner with one of my dad's friends who lives in Winston-Salem. After that, we're going to the Wake v. UVA soccer game! The next day I'm going to find a study spot on campus because I have a ton of work to do in preparation for next week (5 tests, ACT's, college stuff, and it's spirit week). At night, there's the Wake v. VA Tech football game which I'm super excited for!! We head home on Sunday (really early) because I have an Open House at my school that I have to run! Such a big weekend!!

Have a great weekend!!
