Confusing Weather, Cute Outfits
Right now in Connecticut, it will rain while it's sunny, or it will snow for a minute then go back to 50 degree weather. It is driving me crazy. The weather here is so annoying and it's January!! It's supposed to get colder (though I'm doubtful), but until then, I'm going to continue to make versatile outfits that can brace CT's random and confusing climate!!
The first outfit is kind of my go-to outfit. You can't really go wrong with a Ralph Lauren/Rugby oxford button down shirt, a cableknit crewneck/v-neck, and jeans. I will wear this outfit from end of September to about end of March (when I am craving Lilly shifts so badly that I will risk hypothermia for pink and green), and it never lets me down. When the weather is nicer, I'll wear the vest and the riding boots, but when it starts to get snowy and gross, I'll wear an actual jacket and the ever-fabulous Bean Boots.
The second outfit is for when I'm sick of the first outfit. I really like wearing a skirt, tights, and boots because it's a good way to look nice without compromising my legs to frostbite, and also, when it's warmer, I don't die of heatstroke. I like tucking in the J. Crew camel sweater into the J. Crew wool mini skirt, sometimes belted, with some kind of statement necklace...usually from J. Crew. On the other hand, I like wearing a tank top/t-shirt with a cardigan and a scarf. It's very relaxed and can take you from hot to cold and vice versa.
Lastly, here is my compilation of versatile outerwear for wherever the weather takes you. I got the Rugby Navy Blue down vest for Christmas and I am so obsessed with it, I loveeeeee it and I highly recommend it. It is perfect!! Barbour coats are great for the transition from fall to winter, and they are light enough to not be a burden, yet thick enough to not risk your health on colder days. A dress coat is good for warm and cold days, and I love my J. Crew ruffle coat from a couple of years ago. It's great for going out and about, as well as going to nice dinners.
I hope this helps y'all!!
And finally, I am not a complete cripple anymore for I am able to walk around without crutches! I still have a little bootie to wear but it's no hassle. My stitches only hurt a little bit but otherwise the surgery went very well! It's still really nice to have a long weekend!!! What are y'all doing for the MLK weekend? Let me know!!
Have a great day!!
xoxo, Hannah

Preppy Fall Essentials
Here are my preppy fall essentials!!
Cableknit Sweaters ![]() |
Rugby Classic Crewneck Cable-Knit |
I live in sweaters in the fall, and my favorites are all definitely cable-knit!!! I have the sweater above in yellow and I love it.
I think I have at least 4 pair of equestrian inspired boots and I'm obsessed. I love the boots above!! Riding boots go perfectly with everything in fall.
Classically Preppy Footwear
![]() |
LL Bean Boot |
Bean boots. What can I say about bean boots...they are one of the most classically preppy items ever. I am ashamed to admit that I do not own the classic L.L. Bean masterpieces (yet), but fret not! I'm going to get them this fall. After last year's ridiculous amount of snow in Connecticut and my lack of snow boots (my sherling line bean boots are in Jackson Hole year round), I have to be prepared!
Oxford Button Down
![]() |
Ralph Lauren Megan Solid Oxford Shirt |
The oxford shirt is a classic preppy staple year-round, but I find that I wear them more in the colder months. They are perfectly paired with crewneck and v-neck sweaters, as well as cardigans and khakis.
The Striped Rugby
![]() |
Brooks Brothers Striped Rugby |
Striped rugby's are great casual shirts for fall. They're thick, comfortable, and great for menswear inspired outfits. I've only gotten rugby's from Rugby Ralph Lauren, so I don't know how the Brooks Brothers' design that's shown above fits. The colors are great for fall!
The LBD
![]() |
Rugby Nestor Wool Crepe U-Back Dress |
I love this LBD from Rugby!! It's very classic looking and flattering!
The Hacking Jacket ![]() |
Rugby Suede-Patch Hacking Jacket |
I have the jacket above in purple, and I love it. I try to pair it with jeans so that I don't completely look like a mom!! It's a great item for fall!
The Perfect Vest
![]() |
Rugby Alastair Down Vest |
I'm (obviously) really loving Rugby this fall!! Usually my brother is the one wearing the "youthful prep" inspired designs from Rugby and I'm perfectly content in Lilly, but they have great classic items for fall. This vest is great and I love the hunting patch on the shoulder!!
The Norwegian Sweater
![]() |
L.L. Bean Norwegian Sweater |
My favorite sweater in the entire world is the Norwegian Sweater from L.L. Bean. I got one last year for fall and I couldn't get enough of it. I wore it all the time. I got a men's small (which was still big on me) and I cannot wait until this fall so I can wear it more!!
The Coat (or Cape!)
![]() |
Rugby Brayton Duffle Cape |
I am not a fan of capes. Not really, anyway. I never expected to like this Rugby cape, but I really, really do!! It doesn't look like a traditional "cape". It doesn't look like Dracula should wear it, and it looks more like a classic camel coat with weird sleeves!!
Khakis
![]() |
J. Crew Classic Café Capri |
Jeans
![]() |
J. Crew Ankle Stretch Toothpick Jean |
I am also on the hunt for the perfect jean. I legitimately have the hardest time ever finding jeans. I am determined to find good ones this year!! The goal is to find jeans that keep their shape and that are skinny in the knee and calf so that I can tuck them into boots.
What are y'alls preppy fall essentials? Let me know!!
Have a fabulous day!!
xoxo, Hannah
