Island Outfitters

Hi y'all!! A couple of weekends ago, I went into a relatively new store in New Canaan, CT that I absolutely love! It's called Island Outfitters, and it carries many preppy brands and items. It was refreshingly preppy, actually, and it was fun to browse around and see what they had to offer.

I saw the Pink Pineapple brand for the first time (made popular by Sarah Vickers), and I love their driving shoes. They had a special sale on the shoes, so I picked up 2 pair! They're so cute and can be worn in the fall and spring.

Smathers and Branson sighting!!

Monograms...seersucker...nantucket red...

Lilly and Jack Rogers!! They had a good amount of Lilly merchandise, such as their Callahan and scalloped shorts.

Kiel James Patrick! I've never actually seen KJP in a store before, so it was nice to see that they had a few bracelets, Archer wraps, and belts!! My favorite bracelet at the store was the hot pink with the South Carolina Palmetto.

...more Lilly....

I will definitely be coming back to Island Outfitters. It was nice to finally see a store that carries multiple "preppy" brands!

Have a great day!!

Confusing Weather, Cute Outfits

Right now in Connecticut, it will rain while it's sunny, or it will snow for a minute then go back to 50 degree weather. It is driving me crazy. The weather here is so annoying and it's January!!  It's supposed to get colder (though I'm doubtful), but until then, I'm going to continue to make versatile outfits that can brace CT's random and confusing climate!!

The first outfit is kind of my go-to outfit. You can't really go wrong with a Ralph Lauren/Rugby oxford button down shirt, a cableknit crewneck/v-neck, and jeans. I will wear this outfit from end of September to about end of March (when I am craving Lilly shifts so badly that I will risk hypothermia for pink and green), and it never lets me down. When the weather is nicer, I'll wear the vest and the riding boots, but when it starts to get snowy and gross, I'll wear an actual jacket and the ever-fabulous Bean Boots.

The second outfit is for when I'm sick of the first outfit. I really like wearing a skirt, tights, and boots because it's a good way to look nice without compromising my legs to frostbite, and also, when it's warmer, I don't die of heatstroke. I like tucking in the J. Crew camel sweater into the J. Crew wool mini skirt, sometimes belted, with some kind of statement necklace...usually from J. Crew. On the other hand, I like wearing a tank top/t-shirt with a cardigan and a scarf. It's very relaxed and can take you from hot to cold and vice versa.

Lastly, here is my compilation of versatile outerwear for wherever the weather takes you. I got the Rugby Navy Blue down vest for Christmas and I am so obsessed with it, I loveeeeee it and I highly recommend it. It is perfect!! Barbour coats are great for the transition from fall to winter, and they are light enough to not be a burden, yet thick enough to not risk your health on colder days. A dress coat is good for warm and cold days, and I love my J. Crew ruffle coat from a couple of years ago. It's great for going out and about, as well as going to nice dinners.

I hope this helps y'all!!

And finally, I am not a complete cripple anymore for I am able to walk around without crutches! I still have a little bootie to wear but it's no hassle. My stitches only hurt a little bit but otherwise the surgery went very well! It's still really nice to have a long weekend!!! What are y'all doing for the MLK weekend? Let me know!!

Have a great day!!

A Weekend in New Canaan and Ridgefield, Connecticut

Last weekend I had so much fun with my mother while we were walking around New Canaan and Ridgefield, CT! Usually my mom and I go every weekend to Greenwich, New Canaan, Westport, Wilton, or any other small towns in Fairfield County to walk around or go shopping.  I know New Canaan very well, but I had only been to Ridgefield a couple of times very long ago. It was really fun and I had a great time!!

Here is a really badly taken picture from my mom's iPhone of New Canaan. It has a ton of little, privately owned shops as well as larger chain stores such as J. Crew and Ralph Lauren. It is definitely the preppiest town in Fairfield County in my opinion!!

Garelick and Herbs is a small market/cafĂ© that has a couple of locations in FC. There is a store 5 minutes away from my school so I always go there for lunch to get a great create-your own-salad!

Tequila Mockingbird. MY FAVORITE PLACE EVER. Yes, it looks kind of sketchy from the outside, but it is one of my absolute favorite restaurants! It has delicious mexican food and my family and I go there once a week, sometimes twice!

Last weekend, we went to Gates (which is right next to Tequila) for lunch.

There is also a J. Crew in New Canaan. I go there all the time and everyone who works there is so nice!!

My mother and I bought a ton of Girl Scout cookies that were being sold in town.

Next, we went to Ridgefield! It is only about 20 minutes away from New Canaan and really close to our house!

Ridgefield had the cutest bookstore. My mother bought an interior design book for our house!!

We were so happy to find the store Turkey Ridge in Ridgefield. It had a lot of cute items like jewelry and home accessories!

We were successful in finding some equestrian themed items with which to decorate our house!!

Lastly, we finished off the day with Starbucks in the fantastic red Christmas cups!!!

Have a great day!
