J. Crew Fall 2012

I have completely fallen in love with J. Crew again this fall! They have really gotten back on track to have some great pieces such as sweater, tops, pants, and shoes. While the brand hasn't released everything from their fall line yet, I'm extremely happy with what they have put out so far! Here are some of my favorite items.

All of the new J. Crew sweaters come in such pretty colors and styles! Even though the Tippi Sweater and the Jackie Pullover look really similar, they come in different colors that I love. I really want to stock up on v-neck sweaters for this fall, and the Dream Sweater has a lot of great options for me!

The Nicky top is really cute and I am obsessed with the ruffles! Even though it's not really black and gold, I got the Zig Zag Sequin Tee to fit in with my "Black and Gold" obsession. The Keyhole Blouse is perfect for going out to dinner and for getting together with friends.

I absolutely lived in the Pixie Pant last winter! It is basically a thick, stretchy legging in black, grey, and navy with a zipper in the back of the pant. I have summer-y Café Capris and I love them, so I'll definitely be checking out the new herringbone styles! Lastly, I unfortunately look not-so-great in the Minnie Pant, but they are an extremely popular style of pants from J. Crew!

I am also really happy with the shoe selection from J. Crew this fall. The Cece flat, whether it be in suede, leather, or metallic, is great to wear with jeans, skirts, and dresses! I am really looking to wear more heels this fall to boost my height as much as I can! They have really fun colors as well as more classic colors.

Do y'all like anything from the J. Crew fall line? What are y'alls favorites? Let me know?

Have a wonderful day!

Prom Dresses

It's that time of year again!! I have my final prom in June and girls in my school have already started stressing about prom season. We have a Facebook group so that there are no dress repeats, and it's so much fun to keep track of what everyone is wearing! I have already had my dress for a while now (about a year!) and I am absolutely in love with it. But, I'm not going to post it for a while!!

I've been looking at dresses for my friends, so here are my favorite picks for prom!!

Vineyard Vines Bailey Ikat Dress
I think that the neckline on this dress is so pretty!! It comes in two colors (light blue and navy), and it's semi-formal without being too serious. My prom is (oddly) very casual, so this would be perfect to wear!!

Vineyard Vines Bouquet Dress
I love this dress. The color and the shape are both universally flattering!!

J. Crew Ella Dress in Medallion Paisley
My best friend wore this dress in a different print for last year's prom, and it was so pretty!! Of course I like the pink and orange!!

J. Crew Silk Petal Dress
This dress could actually work for prom and graduation!!

Lilly Pulitzer Amberly Dress
For the more adventurous prom-goers, I LOVE THIS DRESS. First, it's pink and green. Second, it has a bow. Third, it's strapless. It's perfect!! It's so much fun!!

Lilly Pulitzer Darleena Dress
It is a very rare occurrence that there a long dress makes an appearance at my high school's prom, so I never really webshop for them. This dress by Lilly Pulitzer is very pretty and great for a relaxed, summery-y prom!
Lilly Pulitzer Bloomy Dress
Lovely, lovely dress. The embellishment is pretty and it helps you choose which metallic for your jewelry!

What do y'all think? What are y'all wearing for prom? Let me know!!

Have a great day!

Finally!! A great pair of jeans!!

Over the weekend, I went shopping with my mom at the Westchester Mall because we were bored and it was raining and it seemed like a good thing to do. While the mall has gone downhill and we only go to about 5-6 stores, I found the best pair of jeans ever!!

I am usually against bootcut jeans for some unknown reason, but I have recently been wanting a pair of jeans that don't cling the life out of my calves. I usually wear skinny jeans with tall boots, which is great, but when I want to wear flats or Jack Rogers, I feel oddly disproportionate for some reason.

I tried on the J. Crew bootcut jeans today and for the first time in forever, I only had to try on one pair and they fit perfectly. I never try on jeans, or any pants for the matter, because I always pitch a fit due to the pants not fitting nicely or me not being able to fit into a certain pair. Anyway, they fit great and they're so comfortable. I am pleasantly surprised and extremely happy at this purchase, and I strongly recommend them for anyone looking for bootcut jeans!! Just a note though: I am 5'6, so I'm mid-size and not exactly short, but I have to buy the "short" versions of pants at J. Crew. Just something to consider if you're deciding between short, long, or regular!

Have a great day!!

Long Weekend in Memphis

Hi y'all!! I'm heading back down to my hometown this three-day-weekend to visit my father's side of the family!! I haven't been to Memphis in 3 years and it's about time that I visit my grandmother, as well as my aunts/uncles and cousins. My dad's side of the family is huge and it's going to be a lot of fun seeing them all!!

For today (Saturday), I'm going to be wearing something cute yet comfortable to wear on the airplane down to Memphis. Of course I had to include something pink!! The entire outfit, from the jewelry and clothes to the shoes, is from J. Crew.

On Sunday, I expect that we're going to go to church, so I'm bringing one of my favorite Lilly Pulitzer fall dresses!! It's one of the most flattering styles and I love this dress!!

For the rest of the day, and so that I don't get too uncomfortable in the dress,  I'm bringing a pink sweater and black flats to pair with either jeans or grey leggings (shown in the picture above). Everything, again, is from J. Crew.

Lastly, for Monday and the plane ride back to Connecticut, I'm wearing a Vineyard Vines striped OCBD and pullover with jeans and flats!

I loooove the luggage that I'm using for this trip to Memphis. I usually use my favorite Lilly Pulitzer pink and orange super huge tote bag, but I got a C. Wonder rolling suitcase for Christmas and I finally have a chance to use it!! It's really bright pink, which I love, because my mother and I were both trying to hunt down a pink suitcase for when we were going on college visits.

I'm also bringing a small tote bag as my other carry on for my homework, my laptop, and for other small random things. It's pink madras!! With my monogram in pink!!

What are y'all doing this President's Day Weekend? Let me know!!

Have a great day!!

The Little White Dress

With graduation a few months away, white dresses are on my mind. At my school, when the seniors graduate, all of the girls wear pretty semi-formal white dresses!! You'd think it be easy to find them. WRONG. There are a lot of really expensive and really ugly white dresses out there...it's not pretty. Here are my favorites from the few I've come across, as well as some of the dresses my friends are wearing!!

LP Reeve Dress
Okay, so the dress above (as well as a ton of the dresses below) is from the Lilly Pulitzer White Dress Shop. I had to include them because I obviously love Lilly, but also because they are really good for graduation!!

LP Parker Dress
I love this dress but I hate the flower on the waist!!!

LP Blossom Dress
This dress is super cute and I know that at least one person will wear this to my graduation. Usually people wait too late to buy graduation dresses, and since Lilly has the best white dress shop, girls end up going to Splash of Pink and buying their dress there.

LP Kiera Dress
I looove the neckline of this dress.

LP Adeline Dress
This Lilly dress is a new style and I really like it!!

LP Franco Dress
I have this dress in pink seersucker and it's super flattering. I actually wore it to last year's graduation!!

One of my closest friends is wearing this Alice + Olivia dress (shown above)!

J. Crew Arabelle Dress
The J. Crew dress shown above is super pretty!! They have a really good selection of special occasion dresses in a ton of colors.
J. Crew Laura Lace Dress
This picture is really hard to see because of the dumb decision to put an ivory backdrop behind an ivory dress, but the Laura lace dress is really pretty!! I love strapless dresses!!

The dress that I'm wearing to graduation isn't in this post, but I'll make a post closer to graduation (since it's only February...) with the details!

Have a great day!!

Confusing Weather, Cute Outfits

Right now in Connecticut, it will rain while it's sunny, or it will snow for a minute then go back to 50 degree weather. It is driving me crazy. The weather here is so annoying and it's January!!  It's supposed to get colder (though I'm doubtful), but until then, I'm going to continue to make versatile outfits that can brace CT's random and confusing climate!!

The first outfit is kind of my go-to outfit. You can't really go wrong with a Ralph Lauren/Rugby oxford button down shirt, a cableknit crewneck/v-neck, and jeans. I will wear this outfit from end of September to about end of March (when I am craving Lilly shifts so badly that I will risk hypothermia for pink and green), and it never lets me down. When the weather is nicer, I'll wear the vest and the riding boots, but when it starts to get snowy and gross, I'll wear an actual jacket and the ever-fabulous Bean Boots.

The second outfit is for when I'm sick of the first outfit. I really like wearing a skirt, tights, and boots because it's a good way to look nice without compromising my legs to frostbite, and also, when it's warmer, I don't die of heatstroke. I like tucking in the J. Crew camel sweater into the J. Crew wool mini skirt, sometimes belted, with some kind of statement necklace...usually from J. Crew. On the other hand, I like wearing a tank top/t-shirt with a cardigan and a scarf. It's very relaxed and can take you from hot to cold and vice versa.

Lastly, here is my compilation of versatile outerwear for wherever the weather takes you. I got the Rugby Navy Blue down vest for Christmas and I am so obsessed with it, I loveeeeee it and I highly recommend it. It is perfect!! Barbour coats are great for the transition from fall to winter, and they are light enough to not be a burden, yet thick enough to not risk your health on colder days. A dress coat is good for warm and cold days, and I love my J. Crew ruffle coat from a couple of years ago. It's great for going out and about, as well as going to nice dinners.

I hope this helps y'all!!

And finally, I am not a complete cripple anymore for I am able to walk around without crutches! I still have a little bootie to wear but it's no hassle. My stitches only hurt a little bit but otherwise the surgery went very well! It's still really nice to have a long weekend!!! What are y'all doing for the MLK weekend? Let me know!!

Have a great day!!

Lilly Outfit of the Week: Preppy School Girl

The shirt is Ralph Lauren and the dress is J. Crew. I love the dress and you can wear it with or without a shirt underneath!! It's also cute with a turtleneck!!

Have a great day!!

Lilly Outfit of the Week: Tweed and Plaid

Here is my Lilly mannequin outfit of the week!!

I have yet to wear this outfit, but I absolutely love it!! Everything is from J. Crew. I am so happy that the brand has had an uphill season!! I like almost everything from J. Crew now (which is really rare for me). Thank goodness they're returning to their more traditional roots.

I actually wore this necklace today for the first time since forever and I got a ton of compliments. I like how chunky it is! I really like J. Crew jewelry now, even though this particular necklace is from a couple of years ago.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend. My family and I had a great time!!! Also, there are so many sales and specials going on right now because of the holiday season!!! I won the Lemon and Line giveaway from Summer Wind last week and y'all should know that Lemon and Line is having an extra day for everything to be 20% off on their website! Check it out!!

Have a great day!!
