Senior Prom Today!!

Besides today being my last day of high school...ever...it's also my senior prom!! I have shortened classes in the morning, then a quick yearbook dedication, then I'm spending hours getting ready for prom! I'm going to work out immediately after school, then I have an appointment at the salon for my prom hairstyle! A couple of my friends are going to get ready at my house beforehand (like last year) then it's off to pre-prom, prom, and post-prom! Phew! It's going to be a busy day!

Y'all know the dress I'm wearing (the Brennan dress from Lilly Pulitzer Jubilee), and I'm so excited for it. I looooooooove it and I'm finally going to get to wear it!

I've never gotten my hair fixed for an event, so I'm kind of nervous about how it's going to turn out! I'm definitely wearing an updo because my dress has so much going on. I want to get my hair out of the way so I don't have to worry about it! I loved my hairstyle last year, plus it was super easy so I did it myself, but I was really worried about the ridiculous humidity and heat. My hair does not handle humidity well when I fix it, so if it's in an updo, I'm figuring it won't be hard to handle at all!

I got a gel french manicure and a regular pedicure for the occasion. I figured coral toes would be flattering for my tan, as well as in a turquoise/gold dress from prom. Plus, it'll look good when I wear metallic Jack Rogers and a white dress for graduation! My mom and I went shopping for prom makeup last weekend and I'm going to be wearing lots and lots of Nars makeup as well as my usual Benefit! Everything will be gold and peach. I'm so excited! I love doing my own makeup, so the sales rep from Nars at the cosmetic store taught me everything I needed to know and gave me a "prom makeover." It was a lot of fun and I can't wait to do it again tonight!

I'm wearing the same shoes as last year because honestly, I'm not a "shoe person" and I'm going to end up taking them off the moment I get to prom! I can't walk in heels very well and I'm going to be dancing when I'm not eating dinner, so I really don't think it's worth it to spend a ton of money on a pair of shoes that won't be worn for very long! For my jewelry, I'm wearing a simple sparkly ring and clover shaped earrings. The cool thing about the earrings is that one side is covered in "diamonds," even though you can't see it in the picture. I didn't want to wear much jewelry, plus I really don't need to wear any jewelry because of how elaborate the dress is. 

I think that's it! I'm really excited for my senior prom and I can't believe it's going to be all over this week! I'm happy I was finally asked after weeks of freaking out with my best friends, but we all got asked this year! Granted, 4 of us were asked in the past week and a half, but we all are so happy! This prom will truly be about hanging out with my best friends and I can't wait!

Prepping for Prom

Hi y'all!! I hope everyone is having a great week so far. Prom is a little less than 1 month away and I can't wait! It's stressful to find a dress and a date, but my friends and I are pulling through. It's our last big event before graduation so we're going to make the most of it!!

Our last couple of weeks of school is really oddly planned, so here's my schedule. I have exams the last week of May (but thank goodness I only have 1!), and then I'm off on my senior class trip. That's only a couple of days, and then I'm back home to get ready for the HUGE week ahead. I have my last day of high school on Monday, and then that night. I don't have school Tuesday, and then I have an award ceremony on Wednesday. Thursday is the big day...GRADUATION!

Since it's so close to prom, I've decided to show y'all my dress! 

I love it love it love it love it LOVE IT! It's Lilly Pulitzer from their original Jubilee resort collection from 2007. I got it last year through Re-Lilly (which I totally recommend, I had the best experience with the site!), and Prom seems like the perfect occasion to wear this dress!

It's fully beaded and so pretty. Not to mention, it weighs like 10 pounds! It's so heavy!

Prom Dresses

It's that time of year again!! I have my final prom in June and girls in my school have already started stressing about prom season. We have a Facebook group so that there are no dress repeats, and it's so much fun to keep track of what everyone is wearing! I have already had my dress for a while now (about a year!) and I am absolutely in love with it. But, I'm not going to post it for a while!! 

I've been looking at dresses for my friends, so here are my favorite picks for prom!!

Vineyard Vines Bailey Ikat Dress

I think that the neckline on this dress is so pretty!! It comes in two colors (light blue and navy), and it's semi-formal without being too serious. My prom is (oddly) very casual, so this would be perfect to wear!!

I love this dress. The color and the shape are both universally flattering!!

J. Crew Ella Dress in Medallion Paisley

My best friend wore this dress in a different print for last year's prom, and it was so pretty!! Of course I like the pink and orange!!

For the more adventurous prom-goers, I LOVE THIS DRESS. First, it's pink and green. Second, it has a bow. Third, it's strapless. It's perfect!! It's so much fun!!

It is a very rare occurrence that there a long dress makes an appearance at my high school's prom, so I never really webshop for them. This dress by Lilly Pulitzer is very pretty and great for a relaxed, summery-y prom!
